Conflict Management Hub

  • What is the Conflict Management Hub? – A system of comprehensive and efficient management of conflict-related knowledge, information and onsite experience, etc.

Back-
ground of
promotion

  • Calls for conflict management are getting higher. Under such circumstances, conflict management managers at government and public institutions are facing considerable difficulty in ascertaining where and how they should learn conflict management techniques or in identifying who are the conflict experts are in order to correctly respond to the changing situation.
  • At present, most of the knowledge and information about conflict management is shared among only a small number of institutions, researchers and experts, which means that it takes lots of time and effort to obtain necessary information.
  • Such being the case, the government needs to take a positive step to establish infrastructure for sharing conflict management-related knowledge and information in connection with the need to help conflict managers at government and public institutions make adequate communication with citizens and contribute to national cohesion.

Concept
and
purpose

  • The Conflict Management Hub (www.cprhub.go.kr) refers to a system of comprehensive and efficient management of conflict-related knowledge, information and onsite experience, etc.
  • The notion of “conflict” in the Conflict Management Hub includes both conflicts occurring in the process of planning or pushing ahead with public policies and projects (conflicts in the narrow sense of the word) and conflicts associated with national cohesion and social conflicts (conflicts in the broader sense of the word).
  • The Conflict Management Hub is developed to prevent a situation in which difficulty is experienced to contend with or resolve conflicts due to the inability of conflict managers at government and public institutions to share or use conflict management-related knowledge or information and to find solutions to the difficulties.
  • The Conflict Management Hub is used by conflict managers at government and public institutions as a means of sharing their experience, knowledge, and information with each other and meeting the requirements of sites where conflicts are occurring by interacting with experts, civic organizations, and relevant institutions at the time of developing or providing support to conflict management policies.
