Small Acts, Big Reward Campaign
Purpose
- To encourage religious associations, NGOs, local governments, the central Government and the general public to work toward national cohesion in small but continuous ways
- To encourage people to interact with each other based on shared values as a means to resolve most social conflicts
Main
Tasks
Promote four campaigns under the slogan of national cohesion : 「We Are All Citizens of Korea」
- - ‘Proud Koreans’ : Promote national cohesion by shedding light on things about Korea that make us proud and fostering national self-esteem
- - ‘Let's Do At Least This Much’ : Promote safety culture, basic order, respect and caring culture
- - ‘Stop Violence and Hurtful Words’ : Eliminate violence, hurtful words and abusive language, which create an unhealthy environment
- - ‘Share and Be Happy’ : Create a warmer society by treating neighbors and people of all generations with respect, by sharing what we have and by volunteering
Progress
- The Small Acts, Big Reward Campaign jointly launched with 85 organizations, including the Presidential Committee for National Cohesion, central and provincial governments, religious associations, NGOs and etc. (March 2014)
- Carried out the “Small Actions in Daily Life, My Promise” Campaign (June 2014)
- Promoted the expansion of the “Small Acts, Big Reward Campaign” Campaign by holding regional debates (Sept.-Dec. 2014)
Future
Plans
- Hold proclamation ceremonies with religious associations and NGOs in four regions: the capital area, the central area, Yeongnam area and Honam area
- Focus on Campaign to “Use Language of Mutual Respect”
- - Language of Communication : select ‘Best Words, Worst Words’
- - Language of Love : hold round-table debates with young people
- - Language of Trust : organize an expert forum, ‘Fact and Trust’, with scholars and journalists
